DEI CONSULTANT and advocate

FINding the strength withiN…

Even when I was young, I found myself wanting to do good. I have always been a strong advocate of myself and for others. When I see a wrong being done, an injustice carried out, I find that I am called to do everything in my power to correct it. I speak truth to power and I use my own capacity to ignite others to act for themselves and others as we persist in the struggle for autonomy and towards true freedom. Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion are my North Stars and everything I do aims to be of service to those ends. I am a JEDI after all. ;)

What I find stops most people from acting and being a part of the change they say they seek is fear. To quote a currently popular franchise, “Fear is the mind-killer.” The work I do seeks to move past that fear and face it head on, despite the risks. I live with constant hope that one day we will all find the strength within ourselves and become the powerful beings we are capable of being. And I know we can accomplish this best together.

The Harriet Tubman Effect

Since it’s inception, I have been a Fellow and subsequently a Founder with a collective known as The Harriet Tubman Effect, or HTE. HTE is a human resource center and institute for justice advocacy research.

HTE's collective work is a mechanism for behavioral change in American workplaces. Our team is at the center of this effort: their research and revision generates the Harriet Tubman Effect (HTE), or a transformation defined by dismantling systemically oppressive structures - and supplanting them with tangible pathways for empathy, empowerment, and justice.

The HTE is thus housed within organizations and industries that seek to undergo such a transformation. The business partnership is unique: each organization serves as fiscal support for HTE personnel, initiatives and programming in their own uniquely designed format. Organizations who choose to engage with HTE might interact via consultation, co-production, sharing of best practices, etc.

The HTE is embedded in the following industries and institutions: Theatre/Film/Television, K-12 Education, Higher Education, Corporate America and Houses of Worship.

Through my continued activation with HTE, I have further stepped into my role as a speaker of truth and an igniter. I aim to push the industries that I find myself involved with forward, primarily in the Theatrical and K-12 Education spaces. I was a leader in the “Black @” Movement that ripped many PWIs (Predominately White Institutions), including my alma mater The Dalton School, in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. I had the privilege of being interviewed by the likes of Vanity Fair and The Washington Spectator.
